| Herman Düne's Not on Top is this catchy strange folky shit that is so addicting. it's raw & honest and all that comes from good folk songs. yet there's some edginess & intensity -- definitely not boring though not extremely out there. like Sons & Daughters folk-rock craziness but this has a style of its own. maybe i just have a bias for sweet Swedish bands. sweet. | comments: Leave a comment |
| | moi Caprice is such good background sleeping music. so calm and mellow, yet, catchy enough so that it doesn’t all blend together. | comments: Leave a comment |
| dug out The Yummy Fur. too bad they're far beyond the obscure reaches of any community now. bet you didn't know an exmember is now in Franz Ferdinand. that little shit. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Suburban Kids with Biblical Names - "#3" Dan says: Sounds like a Stephen Merritt that never gets sad. I say it is just some good (many times geeky) pop fun. Whistles, claps, nonsensical phrases, hums, quirky beats and words. Most of all, it's catchy and never boring. Isn't this what makes a pop album great?
The Boy Least Likely To - "The Best Party Ever" Pitchfork gives them 8.5, a pretty nice review that I actually kind of agree with. Sweet, whimsical, maybe a little childish and mostly feel-good and reminiscent... it's nice when an album evokes sweet feelings like this! They are so adorable it hurts a little to listen to them, almost. Check out their music video for "Be Gentle With Me"... dancing stuffed animals, awesome!
Voxtrot I could not find any full albums, just EPs which I wish are full albums. They are unbearably catchy. Like The Strokes, but more twee and cute.
Laakso - "My Gods" Dancey Swedish pop. I don't know how else to describe them. It's one of those bands that make you sway and make you hum to. I couldn't stop listening to "High Drama" for a week or so. Catchy!
Clor - "Clor" Man, I do adore them! Electro-pop dance fun! I would love to hear this on the dance floor. Anyone want me to DJ at their dance party?
Tangiers - "The Family Myth" This and a previous album are both equally good. Dancey and slightly punky, but still very catchy. I seem to love these kinds. I could listen to this for a while!
The Radio Dept. - "Lesser Matters" A shoegazey/electronic Swedish band, on Labrador Records (like SKWBN). I heart it. It's beautiful, really. It makes me want to lie in the grass or go stargazing. Peaceful.
Sambassadeur - "Sambassadeur" Another one from Labrador Records. Yes I am a huge fun. Indie pop (pawp!!) With sounds like this, I wonder why they are not more well-known. Sweet and cute and all that niceness. | comments: Leave a comment |
